Dupli

Dupli, formerly known as Tetenal UK, has been a cornerstone in the UK's photography community since its inception in 1989. With roots tracing back to the historic Tetenal brand established in 1847, Dupli represents a fusion of rich heritage and a forward-looking approach to print and photography solutions. Their commitment to excellence, both in products and services, has solidified their reputation as industry leaders, offering bespoke solutions to a diverse range of customers.

In the summer of 2023, Dupli approached me with the task of designing website banners for their upcoming Sana Commerce Cloud website. The initial request was for static JPG banners, but upon a detailed analysis of Dupli's powerful CMS system, it became clear that there was potential for much more. The challenge was to transition from static designs to dynamic, responsive banners that would enhance the website’s functionality across various devices and improve its SEO performance.

Responsive Design and Dynamic Content

Embracing Responsiveness and Interactivity

Recognising the capabilities of Dupli's CMS, I focused on creating responsive banners. This approach ensured that the banners would adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes, providing an optimal viewing experience whether on desktop or mobile devices. Moreover, responsive design presented significant SEO advantages, as the content of the banners would be easily indexed and read by search engines.

Enhancing the User Experience

I aimed to create a more engaging user experience on Dupli’s homepage. To achieve this, I embedded a YouTube video, offering an interactive and informative element that would capture the interest of visitors. Additionally, I designed eye-catching banners for the homepage, each highlighting one of Dupli's three core business areas, thereby directing users to the information most relevant to their needs.

Consistency Across Varied Assets

Given the wide range of products and services offered by Dupli, achieving visual consistency across website assets was a significant challenge. I tackled this by developing a simple yet effective mechanism that allowed for the uniform presentation of these varied offerings, ensuring a cohesive and professional look across the website.

Creative Use of Imagery

My design strategy involved a mix of provided product photography, carefully selected stock images, and bespoke AI-generated visuals, combined with the innovative new generative features of Photoshop. This blend of imagery effectively communicated Dupli's friendly and expert tone, resonating with their brand identity.

Building Beyond Banners

My work extended beyond banner design; I took on the development of full pages within the CMS, notably for the Service and Support section. This comprehensive approach ensured that every aspect of the website reflected the quality and professionalism synonymous with the Dupli brand.

Enhancing Brand Presence with SVG Logo Integration

As part of my comprehensive approach to revitalising Dupli's online presence, I took on the task of creating and implementing a high-quality SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) version of the Dupli logo. This effort was directed towards optimising the website's visual and technical performance. The decision to use an SVG format for the logo, as opposed to traditional raster formats like PNG or JPG, was driven by several key advantages:

Superior Scalability and Clarity

SVGs, being vector-based, offer unparalleled scalability without any loss in image quality. This means that the Dupli logo could be resized to fit different contexts and layouts while maintaining its sharpness and clarity. This attribute is particularly vital for maintaining a professional appearance across various devices and screen resolutions.

Improved Website Performance

One of the notable technical benefits of using an SVG logo is the reduced file size compared to high-resolution PNG or JPG files. Smaller file sizes lead to quicker loading times, a critical factor in enhancing user experience and potentially boosting the website's search engine ranking.

Consistent Quality on High-Resolution Displays

In an era where high-density displays, such as Retina screens, are commonplace, SVGs maintain their crispness and detail regardless of screen quality. This ensures that the Dupli logo always looks sharp and professional, an essential aspect for a brand that prides itself on quality and precision.

A Digital Transformation

The launch of the redesigned banners marked a significant enhancement in Dupli’s online presence. The responsive design and interactive features not only improved the user experience but also contributed to better SEO performance. The visual uniformity across the site reinforced Dupli’s brand identity, effectively communicating their commitment to innovation and customer excellence.

This project with Dupli exemplifies my commitment to delivering web design solutions that are not just aesthetically pleasing but also strategically effective. The successful collaboration with Dupli serves as a testament to my dedication to realising my clients' digital aspirations, transforming their online presence through creative and technical excellence.
